  I recived a call this afternoon and whatever it is,this fellow called himself daniel and said i'm eligible for some position to assist his manager.
  I dun rmb going for any job interview for the past 6 mnths,he claimed to be from venture era,apparently some MLM.
  
  I told him not intrested
  
  But how on earth did he got hold of my contacts?

  i think banks sell their database or share their database with others...
  
  or, have you applied for a job with employment agencies?
  
  i got a call 2 years after i left my CV with an agency... and i was already employed at that time

  mine, the fella got it from my friend. they're friends, he took my friend phone list, and dialed up as many as possible. bloody idiots..

  recently a lot of these calls lei.. i also receive this call then noisy dunno what he talking so hang up then call back using private number it's a voicemail sae wad thank you for wanting to apply for duno what position.. siao..
  
  but singapore number still ok la cos at least it's better than the number that begins with +86 or was it 68? >.<
  
  that one ring 1 time then hang up, if you call back u incur high IDD charges and other related charges + charge on their side cos it will redirect to a toll number (like 1900 xxx) in that country.. and singtel they all also cant waive the charges for u u juz have to pay.. and when u call back its something like win some stupid prize or what bluff u 1..
  
  lucky i nv call back.. onli sms back to the number with a question mark then no reply so i din bother then i found out >.<

  If some of your friends are in MLM, then you will know it. Otherwise, it could be some competition you participated and your number was shared.
  
  If he calls again, just ask where he got your number. Tell him don't say some company policy don't allow him to say. If he asks if you want to meet, agree that you meet him and make a fool out of him. I did that, and those MLM never contacted me again.

  Anyone also a suspect... Me ever found out that these companies paid some people of those offering surveys, lucky draws and lucky dips promotions that we joined and participated for all these personal information...
  
  Wonder if there's a legislation regarding to these passing on of information without the consent of the owner...

  Unethical backdoor dealings involving the selling of client databases are rather rampant in the market at present.
  
  The best way to minimise exposure is to limit your private information. Fill out survey forms but leave contact info blank. Don't take up too many loans with banks and don't take part in online surveys that offer goodies as incentives.
  
  Ultimately, you just have to decline whatever they're offering if you're not interested. No need to get incensed.
  
  And hang up on those who are persistently persistent.

  Have you send in any resumes to any web-based employment agencies online or registered yourself with any employment agencies?
