"Monks and Nuns" asking for alms

REcently got a few monks and nuns go around the hawker centre to ask for alms, aka $$$... should mi give them or are they legal?

Try not ah most of them don't go around asking and those asking for it must be from overseas

it is ok not to give money. just remember not to spit into it.

I would ignore them...for no reason.

I usually give those without shoes one then they will give a band. With shoe one i ususally ignore

If you check with Temples all over Siongapore, you will find they all advise against giving to them; as they (the Temples) don't and have not practiced this sort of Alms collection.
So chances are these are FTs here to make a living... -

I don't think there's a law on 'begging' for alms.
But i think you can tell by the person's dress whether he's a real monk or not.
If I can spare some money, I'll probably just give him a token sum. But if the monk asking for alms wears a Rolex watch glittering in gold and blinding me, I won't give anything.....

i normally dont donate money when i go outside. you never know whether the monk is fake.
and i find students doing flag day extremely annoying... are they doing flag day for the community? NO its for their cip points -

Dont give money to monks. I saw them taking taxi thrice and shopping in taka at branded shops.
saw some in sydney buying branded shoes too. -
Just tell them straight in the face that we're living in the 21st century, not the Victorian Era. If not catch hold of them, & report to them the police. Bloody hell, every single person in Singapore is working hard to make ends meet, & these monks & nuns just went around begging for alms.
