Doggies training

I have recently bought a dog, and i kept him in my backyard,reason is because she dun really have a place that she decides to poo and pee...hmm..i am checking on websites to find out more on toilet training for dogs,but they doesn't really seem to be much help...Any dog owner out there that are kind enough to provide some methods?

To train a dog successfully, you need to reward it for the right things it does. It remembers that if it does it right, it gets a reward such as a doggie snack. Good doggie snacks such as chocolate bits work best.

give treats(find in doggie shops) when they do a right thing.
Treats can also be beef bits or meat stuff -

My dog lives IN the house.
When she first came, she'd pee and poo all over the place. But each time she did so, my brother would bring her to the spot where she did her business, point to it and say sternly that it's wrong. Then he'd bring her to the car porch or something dunno what he did next...
Then soon our doggie learnt that it's wrong to pee and poo in the house, so she gradually did all her business in the porch. Occasionally now if she's unable to control it (in the event the door is closed), she'd do it in the house but when she sees us she'll pull back her ears and give a sheepish look, showing that she knows it's wrong. -
The easiest and most effective way is to send your puppy for training. Puppies are not easy to handle, so it's worth to spend a little money and get it properly trained.

You have to find out what the pet is most afraid of, in my dog's instance, she's afraid at the mere sight of newspaper all rolled up, even more so when we use it to spank her. -

I have tried giving her warning and bringing her to the place that she is not suppose to pee/poo..then carry her to the place that I want her to do her business...but i seems that she dun really understand my gesture.Btw she is around 6 months old.Or should i actually wait as in for her to be older before teaching her all these?Originally posted by MooKu:Hmmm.

Could you please not provide such information well-knowing that chocolates kill dogs? What if the thread-starter (or anyone else) was not aware and went ahead to feed chocolates to the dog before somebody spotted your post and pointed it out?Originally posted by ditzy:I know. -

Last time a pet shop owner said that to toilet train a puppy, you have to bring it to the place it just pooed and pressed its nose NEAR (not into hor...) the poo or urine and smack the butt... (hard enough to discipline but not the kind that breaks the ribs...)
Then they have this toilet training spray which you use to spray on newspapers or wherever you want its toilet to be, and press its nose near it again...
But this has to be done RIGHT AFTER you caught it in the act coz after that they don't know what they have done even when you whack them... They will just see you as siao... Nothing to do then smack them...
After a few times, the puppy would know...
But this applies only to puppies I reckon, coz my doggie was two and it didn't work...
