  I did get con once as well but I was doubtful during the whole time.
  
  The 2 girls from china claim that they are tourism and lost their wallets... They kept asking me for money for hotel but when I wanted to help them check in, they refused.
  
  Then they try to make it sound as a loan and ask me to let them call their relative back in china. They really make it sound real to unexpecting crowds. But I told them that I do not have cash but will help them to check them into their hotel rooms.
  
  Then they ask me since I can check them in the hotel room why do I have no cash to borrow them. I just tell them that I do not have the pin on my credit card. Then they say that it's not to their tradition that guy check them into their rooms and ask whether I can buy some clothings for them to change.
  
  I dunno out of pity or out of admiring their acting skill, I agree. Then we went to giordano. They just pick up 2 pairs of jeans and 2 t-shirts. Not even trying and I paid for them.
  
  I treated it like a fee for entertaining me and the lesson learnt from this experience.
  
  The best part is that when I actually reported the case to the police, they doubted me for expressing such kindness for these ladies. They thought that there were some kind of arrangements for the clothings that I bought for them. Some kind of law enforcers they are. Digging at the sorrow of the victims who really wanted to help...

  those Bangla betta them them lor.. they jus straightaway tell me they need money to eat and i wil gif them. what for make up so many story jus for that few bucks. be honest and i will gif it to u willingly lor.

  There was this PRC guy who cheated his bus fare again, he boarded at amk ave 5. tap his ezlink card at yck rd, and got off somewhere between hougang and tampines. He pretend see see wrong bus stop after tapping the card, then go back and seat. chao chee bye!

  last time when i went to skul, there will be this chinese guy who sits the bus for FREE. the uncle ask him go down, he just pretend not to hear.. until the uncle give up and let him sit the bis for FREE, EVERYDAY.

  I have known Singaporean/Malaysians to do the same in Orchard too.
  
  Because I cannot determine the accent (too singaporean to be malaysian, too malaysian to be singaporean)... so i stick to "singaporean/Malaysian".
  
  usually stand in front of Pacific Plaza one... saying she just took a bus down from JB and her bag was left in the bus. Passport, money all gone...
  
  anyway.. having stayed overseas too long, i knew at once this is not right.
  
  THE very first thing people do when their belongings go missing is to seek help from people they know. Not just stand around in public trying to see from the faces who could help.
  
  Usually when they dunno anyone, they will go to the very next ppl they are comfortble with... like if lost bag on bus, she will contact the bus company.

  but also got singaporean do the same thing in china...
  when i was in shanghai this year, i saw the newspaper....
  
  got two singaporean gal say that they go travel in shanghai, they losst their wallet...so they dun have momey with them, no momery come back to the hotel... so they ask the shanghai gal for help, lend the money two them.
  and they show her their student card, say that they from poly...
  ask the gal leave her address and phone number, say that they will send back the money to her...
  
  so the gal lend them the money....
  
  but....
  they all disappear......
  
  after that they still keep cheated other ppl....use the same reason....
  
  some ppl called police...
  
  so reporter show on the newspaper.....
