Ppl usually dun reveal it for privacy's sake of course. Who wants their salary to be publicly broken down and discussed, and their expenditure questioned?
U'll find that it's even more taboo in ang moh cultures.. try asking an ang moh "how much do u earn" and most will give u a stunned/horrified look.. good natured ones will answer "(I earn) enough"! That's coz they're realy big on personal privacy
