I dont know how you came to this conclusion.Originally posted by OneWithTheForce:I've noticed in the media that, despite only being a tiny proportion of the population, Eurasians seem to be everywhere , like Denise Keller, Ute, Paula Malai Ali, Shan Wee, Debbie Wong and Cheryl Fox.
Even Caucasians appear far out of proportion to their population.
According to the Straits Times, there are 17,000 Eurasians in Singapore.Originally posted by the.owl:I dont know how you came to this conclusion.

Perhaps Eurasians (presumably with half British blood) grew up in British English speaking environment which gave them an edge in jobs that require good English oral skills such as English TV show host and English TV host.Originally posted by OneWithTheForce:According to the Straits Times, there are 17,000 Eurasians in Singapore.
That's about 0.2% of the population.
If 0.2% of MTV's presenter's were Eurasian, there wouldnt be any.
Similar for tv or radio.
There are 4,000,000 other people to choose from.
They actively discriminate against YOU- the very Asians who would love a chance at being in the media, but arent a racial group- Eurasian.

somebody has got a serious inferiority complex.
that said, those eurasians can speak good english with a good accent, and they are armed with good looks... and everything about them is good.
You make a very good point by comparing the ratio of total population against those who are in the entertainment line.Originally posted by OneWithTheForce:According to the Straits Times, there are 17,000 Eurasians in Singapore.

Sad but true. I've witnessed this sort of discrmination in Singapore many times, while on the job. Sometimes casting assistants will call up modelling agencies to find suitable "talent". 90% of the time, they will say something along the lines of "I want pan-asian and caucasian only, don't send me any chinese girls. Malay or Indian can if they can pass for pan-asian. We're going for looks first, followed by acting skills."Originally posted by OneWithTheForce:They actively discriminate against YOU- the very Asians who would love a chance at being in the media, but arent a racial group- Eurasian.
