Guitar on board?

Hi guys. This November holiday I am going overseas for holiday and was wondering if i can bring my guitar along.
See, i do not have a hard case for it so baggage option is out.
I was thinking of bringing it onto the plane with me as hand-carries. Is it possible?
Anyone know the restrictions of luggages?

You can check it in as oversized luggage. There is a counter specifically for such luggage. That's how ang mors carry their surfboards from country to country.

As far as I know, SQ and Emirates both allow it as a carry-on but the stewards/stewardesses will take possession of it when you board the plane, and for the flight. You'll receive it on your way out of the plane and into the terminal after arrival.

if you're lucky enough or if you're super nice(maybe a tad flirty) and polite the stewardesses will sometimes allow you to put it in their staff hanger closet onboard, i brought my electric in hardcase once. remember to loosen the strings so the neck doesnt get warped or screwed in anyway.

Better to get a hardcase in case your guitar breaks into 2
