When is the first time u lie? Just share your views about lying. I have read a book entitled "The Truth About Lying". There is one phrase which leads me to ponder and that is "A lie is always by choice, not by accident. "

In a BBC report, they once said that humans lie every single sentence, every single reason. I didn't lie abou this, but I find that sometimes lying do get me out of difficult situations, so I won't hesistate to use my 'rights'.

hmm...well...it actually depends much on the situation, if its something very serious that probably concerns to hurt someone, try to tell the truth lor, cos one way or another,the person might still learn the truth somehow,some way,then they will come scolding/blaming you for not letting them know the truth...
However, there are times we will need to tell "shan yi de huang yan"(white lies),its sometimes unavoidable...

One incident that the book illustrates deception is "There is a traveller who travels through the country and stops for lunch in a small town. Taking a wlak in the courthouse square, he sees an old man sitting on a bench, reading a newspaper. Sitting besides him is an interesting looking dog. The traveller walks over to the old man, sits down next him and starts a friendly conversation. The old man, being wary of strangers, give only short answers to the traveller's questions. "My, that is a very interesting looking dog," says the city slicker. "I had a dog just like when I was a kid." The old man just nods silent in response. "He looks like a pretty good dog to me," says the city slicker. The old man ilently nods. The traveller then asks "Does your dog bite?" The old man shakes his head. The traveller then reaches out his hand out to pet the animal. The dog snarls and snaps at the stranger, taking a big bite out of the poor man's hand. In pain and shock, he yells at the old man, "I thought you said your dog doesn't bite!" "My dog don't bite," said the old man, "Well, that isn't my dog."
Until I have read this book, I don't know that for this situation, the old man is telling a lie.
