Let's IMAGINE IF you're the 'mutual friend' at the same time... HOW would you introduce 'yourself' to the party you're interested in....??

Make sure you dish out the big toothie grin that can melt any heart... nice confident handshake... say "hi, my name is XXX" + smile....
May help if your mutual friend can do the introduction in a place where you are hear each other without resorting to screaming or shouting (nothing sexy about that)...
Will be great if you already know something about this girl beforehand, then bring her "area of interests" into the conversation... Women loves to talk about things they like doing or believe in... at this point... just let her talk... look at her (try not to stray to other body parts, don't stare, try to fix your gaze somewhere between the eyes)... show interest... knod and agree when necessary... smile...
You should be about 50% in her good books by then...

You have to be very subtle about it I guess - else if I was the person that you were purporting to introduce your friend to, I would be
I would go, "Hi A, have you met B? B's an investment banker with Citigold" etc.
That way there will be a starting point for conversation, and something (aside from visual sweets) to get the other party interested - which in the case above, is a very impressive career, and probably an even nicer bank balance
Of course there are so many ways to go about this - e.g. "Hi A, have you met B? B is also *insert hobby/activity here* (e.g. a big fan of Devil1976)" -

As for good things to say ah... Hmm... risky leh... over-promise will make your friend look stupid if he doesn't live up to it...

find something common between A & B. (e.g interests, work place, religion, school, favourite food)
Lets say A & B both like flying kites.
Introducing A to B.....
"Yo A, my friend here also like flying kites leh"
Than juz leave them to talk about flying kites la. Usually the talkative party would start asking lots of questions. I've seen pple whom I've introduced to each other talk for hours on the phone after meeting each other for the first time. Common interest !!
If both of them are shy, than maybe u start talking about kites and they would most probably start talking. Some people feel more comfortable when someone they know is also in the conversation, instead of just talking with someone they hardly know. -
