I think jobs are offered but they are restricted to the "low ranking" jobs like fruit sellers, bus drivers,mechanics etc
"Higher ranked" jobs like office executives are still a no-no. -

The idea is to have ex-offenders a chance to have means to survive on his own and be accepted again. I would think they will be happy enough just to be accepted again. -
Let's face it.....very very few ex-offenders can hold white collar jobs again. Not just S'pore, anywhere in the world too.

Guys... the TS asked if GOVERNMENT gives second chance... not PRIVATE SECTOR...
I don't know much but I guess with all that ribbon project thing, they better or else be branded as a hypocrite... The private sector can do anything they want... according to my dad, his company (car company) rather chose a Malaysian Chinese who can even write in engilsh than any other race that is slightly more educated... (his words not mine)... -
hv to see lor..when i had my tagging..i don really have difficulty finding a part-time job...guess becos those jobs ain't tat high paying job and also slightly difficult for us to find like civil service job or sign on...i think..

Maybe Score giving them 2nd chance but not employer. Who dun want cheap labour n can do alot more den other(w/o tagging).

remember what happened during the IMF/world bank? -
essentially, they want the private sector to soak up the social commitment to reintegrate ex-convicts into society. meaning, they are encouraged to go work in private sector but no chance at public side, i doubt even in lower end jobs.
this is what i think, by no means it could be accurate. -
their policy is very clear-cut.
anything negative, do expect them to do it. -

the longer the jail term in their resume, the more job opportunities they get. -

Yet under presumptuous initiative. The govt's completely missed the point - It's all about graciousness.. and that goes well beyond a "2nd chance".
