how do u guys think my boss?

my boss already said, he wished everyone under him can get higher position and he would tried his best to make it happen...
but a few weeks ago, i applied one higher position under another manager, that manager is also interested to me and chit chat with me, but after talking with my boss, that manager never talked to me about that position again...
from your experiences, any idea about it? i am really surprised and disappointed to see this happen... -

The way me see it is that your boss infoed the other manager on your work attitude and poor performance...
That probably blew your chance away...
For bosses that normally said that don't normally mean what they said...
What your boss implied is that he will try to help within his department and still under his management, but you can forget about going above him... -
ur boss must have told the manager smth.
