good thing is u get to work 8 hours inclusive of breaks, while others may work longer than that cos some companies (esp private sector) work 8 to 5 or 9 to 6, which is 8+1 hours to squeeze the max out of u.
bad thing is the weird hours.
on the IT support side, more common is 12 hours shift for two days followed by two days' rest. this 12 hours may or may not be in the wee hours. they usually stand by and be able to react to any downtime or network disruptions, but due to the JLB nature of their work, their pay is not high for their qualification than their peers.
as for ATC controllers, it's 1 day's work 2 days' off. but expect it to be quite tiring anyway, and the pay will range from 2k for newbie graduate to 2.8k for experienced ones. no career advancement path too.
Thanks for the info. Just what I need
