so how's ur 'O's results?Originally posted by finoq:Somehow, the prospect of entering a JC now is quite weak. Perhaps it is because I had horrible results for my 1st term at Poly, and now doing horribly...

FIRST TIME SEE U SO SERIOUSOriginally posted by forum_dude:its not really biased, just that providing different route for different people
some people may be good in hands on so they may apply for poly since for my course, there are alot of practical like almost 6hrs of practical per week last semester
whereas for jc, it is more suited for the students who like theory and theory so they apply for it
I was one of those rare cases who successfully transferred from poly to JC.Originally posted by teraexa:A levels is suitable if you are better at theoretic stuffs. If you cannot handle studying from books or lecture notes for hours, I suggest you remain in poly. Besides, if u take science in A levels, you have the nasty A level practicals sprinkled throughout your 2 years there.
If you can't cope in poly, I advise you to remain in poly as the jc cirriculum is no joke.
if someone prefers theory but can't get into jc?Originally posted by forum_dude:its not really biased, just that providing different route for different people

[b]To clarify, your son can still join a jc via the upcoming PAE (tentatively from 22 to 24 November) using his last year's O level results provided he is a Singaporean/Singapore PR and has never enrolled in a jc before via the PAE or JAE. He also has to fulfill the age criteria for jc admission which is under 19 years of age as at Ist January of the intended admission year. He can apply via the PAE first without quiting the polytechnic. After admission to a jc via the PAE, he can then quit the polytechnic but please note that he will still have to take part in the JAE next year (still using his O level results) for admission to jc after the first 3 months.
