International Day to End Violence Against Women

In December 1999, the 54th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 54/134 declaring November 25th the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The origins of November 25th go back to 1960, when the three Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic were violently assassinated for their political activism. The sisters, known as the “Unforgettable Butterflies,” became a symbol of the crisis of violence against women in Latin America.
November 25th hence became the date chosen to commemorate their lives and promote global recognition of gender violence.
Join us at National Committee for UNIFEM, Singapore to commemorate the day with the following events:
November 20th: SNOW Dinner Benefit
November 24th: Take My Eyes – Spanish film premier screening
November 25th: International Day to End Violence Against Women
Join us and celebrities at Angel Canopy, Clarke Quay from 12noon-9pm for the unveiling of AnnaÂ’s final destiny and concert.
Here's how you can help us to help Anna
1. We need your help in spreading the word about our www.helpanna.comcampaign. If you have a blog or would like to send the word out to your friends please do email to us at [email protected] and we'd be able to provide you with the banner and link button.
2. Get the t-shirt. The National Committee for UNIFEM, Singapore t-shirt is in Navy Blue and cost $10. Indicate your size and payment method and we can deliver the t-shirts to you. Write to [email protected] and subject line T-Shirt.
3. Come for our unveiling on November 25th at Clarke Quay. -
