actually...if he is not a Cisco personnel...would U let him off?Originally posted by Schwing:once, i stopped a cisco officer not in his uniform for smuggling in pornographic vcds at the old woodlands checkpoint. when i stopped him, he showed me his cisco id, but i ignored it and proceeded to search for contraband...and that's when i found some vcds stuffed in his pants...suspecting that those were porn vcds and not wanting to embarass him, i asked him to follow me to the search room without removing the cds...and indeed, those were XXX vcds...he pleaded for forgiveness and seeing that he's still young, i reprimanded him for abusing his authority by showing his id to avoid being searched...i then ask him to destroy the disks in front of me and let him off...

i use to...not anymore...there are no hard and fast rule about VCDs/Cds...it's totally up to the officer whether or not they wan to make a big deal out of it, because technically, their primary job is to prevent loss of revenue due to evasion of tax...hence, most of the cases are smuggled ciggys or liquor...although it is also their duty to check for items like firearms, drugs and whatnot. these cases will eventually be taken over by respective departments, like SPF or CNB...Originally posted by red_amoeba:say, you like work in customs leh...i heard you can bring in 5 pirated discs so long its not XXX, is it true?
yes...there was once i stopped a young poly student, and i found some XXX cd covers, but there were no disks in them...immediately, i looked outside and saw a young lady looking nervous and worried...i signalled her to come in, as she has already cleard the customs, and when i checked her handbag, i found the disks...i brought them to the back of the office, scolded the guy for almost making the girl his scapegoat, ask him to break the disks and let them off...Originally posted by Xcert:actually...if he is not a Cisco personnel...would U let him off?
Cisco guard out on police bail at time of crime
By Elena Chong
MORE CHARGES: Loqmanul, 23, inidcated in court yesterday that he would be pleading guilty.
A CISCO constable who allegedly stole three DVD players from a supermarket in Jurong was out on police bail at the time of the crime.
Loqmanul Hakim Buang, 23, had surrendered to the police on Nov 6 for thefts he had allegedly committed at the same supermarket on Oct27, and at another in Woodlands on Oct 30.
But while out on bail, he went back to the Jurong outlet on Nov 14 and allegedly stole the DVD players.
Loqmanul first appeared in court last Thursday, charged with stealing goods worth a total of $201 from Sheng Siong supermarket in Yuan Ching Road on Nov 14.
Yesterday, he was also charged with stealing two portable DVD players worth $498 from the same supermarket at about 8am on Oct 27.
Three days later, he and a 22-year-old suspect, Mohammed Nurzaman Mansor, allegedly stole an LG LCD television set worth $1,399 from Sheng Siong's store at Ten Mile Junction in Woodlands.
Nurzaman, who was arrested and released on police bail, has not been charged yet.
Cisco told The Straits Times it had not been told about the theft on Oct 30 until Loqmanul was arrested for the theft on Nov14. 'Had Cisco known of the Oct 30 offence earlier, we would have taken the standard precautionary procedure of suspending him from duty,'' it said in a statement yesterday.
Loqmanul, who joined the auxiliary security agency on May 22 this year, has since lost his job there.
A police spokesman told The Straits Times it had failed to follow procedure and inform Cisco that one of its officers had been arrested on Nov 6.
'This oversight is regretted,'' she said.
'The police view this lapse in communication seriously and are currently reviewing our internal procedures to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.''
Loqmanul indicated in court yesterday that he would be pleading guilty.
The case was adjourned until next Wednesday and he was released on $10,000 bail. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to seven years and a fine on each charge.
