Is it possible to rent a house for just a week or two?

  Hi everyone,
  
  I have a friend that is coming down to singapore and I was just calculating the rates of the hotel fees and even for a budget hotel , it came down to be 1k for a week stay.
  
  The hostel rates were just as pricey
  
  Betel Box
  
  Sleepy Sams
  
  I'm wondering if I were able to rent a hdb flat, house or condominium for just a week. Has anyone been able to do that?

  Around $1k for a week's stay? Got so expensive mey....?
  
  You go search around lor... Some people can be negotiable for such short rental, but i believe it's often more like 'under table' stuff?

  one week's stay in a 800 square feet standard service apartment cost around $2500
  
  one week's stay in a 2200 square feet 4 Bedroom Penthouse cost around $6500, one month's stay $20000

  What is your friend in Singapore for?
  
  I think 1 week's quite short?
  
  I believe there're even more 'budget' hotels around... Though the location might not be idea and condition not that good. But if your friend's gonna be out almost for the whole day while in Singapore, it's worth considering?
  
  How about is it possible to see if he / she could stay over at a friend's house or something for a week? Does he / she actually minds that? Just pay a 'token of appreciation'?

  Do you mean the YMCA? The YMCA rates is twice the price for hotel 81 ... I see that there is surcharge some more .... It will be about 845 for about a week, but I'm wary that there will be extra charge due to christmas and new year eve.

  Yes. I also noticed that you're supposingly referring to some seasonal peak? Often those period just quite unlikely to avoid rise in PRICE. It's often quite globally applicable?

  His only requirement is air con. I think he'd appreciate a little bit of privacy at the same time. Well his purpose is to mainly see what Singapore is like. I would love for him to stay over my place, but I dont think my folks would be too keen on having a male stay over.
  
  One week is quite short yeah, but thats the only time off he could get I suppose. Maybe next time he visits it will be another story

  There you go, below $1000 already. As for the extra charges, dun hesitate or worry so much, juz give them a call to find out.

  Most hotels charge alot for seasonal periods sometimes 40 - 70 dollars more. I think hdb rental would be more economical. Usually they charge about 500 - a thousand a month so if thats divided into 4, I think that would be a good deal if someone would actually let me do that.

  Hmm - i;ve got just the place for you! peaceful tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city..yet - within striking dsitance of all the amenities that city life offers!
  
  I give you St. John's island Bungalow: 1 weeks stay will set you back less than $200.

  Actually I did think of Pulau Ubin, it would be an interesting experience but then again its not close to many amenities like hawker center and shopping centers. I really am keen to bring him to see Pulau Ubin and see rustic singapore though, staying there overnight isnt feasable.

  You may wanna try Prince of Wales Hostel at Little India. Comes down to $AUD14 per night. Yeah they charge by AUD. But its shared dorm. Heh! But I went to check out the place before, not bad quite brightly painted and new. And there's a pub downstairs. Near MRT.

  I don't recall. But they are arranged like subunits in one apartment unit.
  
  Could be cheaper than the average Orchard Road hotel.
  
  Think Yellow Pages might have..usually run by those Ah Sohs.
