The worse has to be the fuel surcharges. Cost me more 100 bucks just to fly to the same place now.
And the rates seem to fluctuate whenever they please. -

Or you can use the indirect way to Brunei by going to JB to catch Airasia to Miri and catch a cab/bus to Brunei.
Which part of Brunei are you going to stay? Bandar Seri Begawan or Kuala Belait? Miri is at the border of the Belait District.

My definition of Cheap is Lower than Market rate. It seems to me the market is going at $500-$600++ for a single ticket. brunei airways $600++ leh...

Miri is part of Malaysia and it's like JB to Singapore. People from Brunei especially the Belait district like to drive to Malaysia to do shopping.
Unfortunately that's not that many cheap airfares to Brunei around.... so you might have to bite the bullet somehow. -
