Statement was made during the the 2006 National Day Rally. PM was talking about embracing new technologies like the internet and was referencing to Mr Brown (www.mrbrown.com) infamous "Ba Chor Mee Mai Tur Kwa podcast. The statement he made was "You Say Ba Chor Me mai Tur Kwa, I say mee siam mai hiam", which his press release later clarify that he actually wanted to say Laksa Mai Hum.
After the PM's speech and prior to the press clarification, Singaporeans were discussing, both in forums and kopitiam, whether PM was saying "Mee Siam Mai Hum" or "Mee Siam Mai Hiam".. which are technically both not correct as pointed out.. as Mee Siam has no hum.. and mee siam cannot be without hiam... Mr Brown subsequently made a podcast (to clarify whether is mai hiam and mai hum) by mixing PM Lee's "Mee Siam Mai Hum" with Black Eye's Pees "My Hump"..
