Smoking helps calm the person down especially people with mental illness. Don't give them their smoke - they go nuts on you . Give them their smoke - peace on earth .
Smoking is better than eating junk food and fatty oily food - lung cancer kills the smoker faster hence less a burden to society but diabetes cost the nation since diabetics live quite long . I reckon that they should put picture of gangrenous foot plus a warning : DIABETES KILLS on every macdonalds/kfc/burger king meals they sell .

Personally , I seen what smoking pot did to my friends who do pot in Australia. Their speech slur , their reflexes slow down , they cannot process anything cognitively and I had to stop one from trying to hurl herself over the balcony because she felt as freeee as a bird. They become suddenly paranoid when the high starts to go down. That is why I never touch the stuff. Anything that makes a person want to fly over the balcony and kill themselves or turn a friend paranoid is not my cup of tea.
Nicotine - at least your cognitive function is not affected when you are smoking good old cigarettes loaded with the goodness of nicotine! -

But the addiction is real. In the sense that there is a dependency on puffing a ciggy. It is as real and harmful as any addiction.
Could you honestly say that you can totally stop smoking now if you wanted to? Like say for 2 weeks?
Maybe you're still young now, but smoking after a while can be a hassle and an inconvenience. It becomes a habit, rather than something to look cool.
