Auto-Scanning Your Passport at Woodlands Checkpoint

  juz came back from jb, saw got two new lanes for auto checking your passport, looks like new. the police guy was directly singaporean passport holders to those.
  
  i wanna noe is.. those passports need to be the new passports? very curious, bt din have time to ask or check em out. anyone noe?

  actually, all along, current non-biometric passports can be self-checked.

  i saw the aunty put her thumb on a device before leaving the lane. so i tot its need new one but the police person never state, juz say singapore passport.

  no need biometric passport...
  
  all you need is a machine-readable one, that is, the one with your picture, the side got those <<< and your name..
  
  and you have to be registered for your NRIC.. for the thumbprint data..
  
  so all you have to do is to scan your passport, the door open, you go in, scan your thumbprint, the next door opens, you're done..

  Fast and easy, pleasantly surprised too, beats having to squeeze in the queue with all the foreigners. Thoses lanes for Singaporeans used to be abused by Foreigners.
  
  Even in Changi. The worst time I guess is when during that IMF meeting, they closed off 4 out of 5 Singaporean passport lanes for IMF visitors. You know how 'Tu Lan' I was as a Singaporean coming home to queue up behind foreigners.
