statistics and studies aim to find a trend of the effects on the average population who carry out a certain activity, not trying to find out what will DEFINITELY happen to every single one of them who does it. That doesn't mean it's not a concrete evidence if someone dun fall into the trend. -

I don't discriminate smokers. In fact, a few of my friends are nicotine addicts. They are considerate smokers though. When they want to light up their cigarette, they will just back out frm the grp and smoke alone somewhere.
However, there are some smokers I hate la. After they smoke, they stink so badly and they are proud of it. -

Smoking is a form of habit. Its just one way of how certain people choose it.
Is just like playing computer games, watching a movie or eating food which you want. It is actually becuse they think of it, they want it, they do it.
For those who discriminate smokers saying that second hand smoke kills people more, than they should say that to companies which manufacture petrol or desiel engine vehicles. Or even factories prodcing plastics or by-products. Or even public buses. A 1 hour journey on 1 SBS bus is equal to 5000 sticks of ciggies burnt. So which is worst?
Now there is a ban on smoking at coffeshops unless on selected tables. Those tables are designated for the smokers already, but always I see non-smoker are there. Even when there is still empty tables inside the coffeshop. All because they want to sit outside. But the rules for designated tables is that it must be situated on the outside. Maybe they should start fining those non-smoker who do so.
In Singapore, the gahment says smoking bad for health, quite smoking, increase prices to make it unaffordable to those non-working kids. Its actually a scheme saying good things to people yet at the back earning high profits from tax. They kept on increasing the price, just imagane 10 yrs down the road, when the number of smokers is reduced by 75%, where will the gahment get their additonal tax income from? They will start increasing more GST tax or even introduce more taxable items like food tax, garment tax, electronic tax. As of now only 4 types of things have import tariff tax which is automobiles, Ciggies, fuel and liquor on top of that there is GST. -

2. If i had my way all factories would shut down. But is that possible? I depend on those factories, so do you, and so does society. It keeps the economy going.
3. A motor engine gives off carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide some nitrogen products. While unhealthy, its way healthier than the chemicals given off by cigrette smoke.
4. Are non-smokers not entitled to fresh air? The smokers should be isolated in a room, where they can breathe all the 2nd hand smoke they want. Whats the use of putting smokers in fresh air if all they're gonna do is pollute it? Its not like they want the fresh air or they wouldnt be smoking.
5. The government's first priority is income and tourists etc.. I think its a dumb policy. If they think its bad for health, just ban it. Theres a million and one ways to gain revenue, i dont see why it has to be from smoking. They might as well start trading drugs and having a slice of that lucrative market. Afterall, isnt it the same as cigrettes? It still harms the body.
