Most likely either a berry aneurysm at the base of brain or an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), which can occur anywhere on thye surface of the brain. The former is due to a weakness in the wall of the blood vessel whilst the latter is an abnormal formation of arteries and veins.
Rupture can lead to rapid death and treatment has to be quick and not always effective. Treatment before it ruptures is much more successful but it is often silent, the only common symptom being epileptic fits in some (not all) patients. Yes, it does occur in young people and is one of the causes of sudden death in them. A berry aneurysm can be part of a syndrome and may be associated with hypertensiona and renal disease in patients with polycystic kidney disease. AVM is not associated with high blood pressure. -
Wow this is scary as I am in the same age group. Is this aneurism thingy linked to lack of sleep or too much mental stimulation?
I'm not sure but the way our world is running so fast and furious on a computer screen, I find that our brains simply have not enough rest. Instead of doing any off-screen rest or unwinding, I find more and more pple going into the internet or playing computer games to unwind.
Personally, I am not sure if the brain or eyes are really rested or more tensed and stimulated as a result of such "unwinding". -
these sudden deaths or strange illness are not as if only occurring only in recent years.
average lifespan has been increasing infact with time.
you have to know that with increasing information and technology, we are more likely to hear and see bizarre news because or higher exhange of information. in the past where got broadboand internet to spread news.
in the past where one stupid virus, can wipe of tens of millions of people loh.
as for bad things happening to us and our family. we have to accept that it is the fact of life.
we are often to busy working and playing that we often forget that every moment of our life, adversity can happen to us. it seldom happens, but sometimes they do.
therefore, we must constant remind ourselves and prepare ourselves mentally for disaster in life so that in case it really happens, we can manage them better than compared to if we never prepare them at all.
as the saying goes, " save for the rainy days"...
don't just play and work all the time, guys. spend some time to reflect on realities of life, and the worst case scenario of life when we are still in our peaceful period of our life.
use the peaceful period of our life to increase our knowledge, maturity and skills so that in times of adversity we can ride them better. that is why i like to read self help books. -

As i mentioned in my previous post my uncle whos 39 died suddenly.While he was in ICU, there was another family always in the waiting area crying everyday awaiting their love one 2 wake. his youngest is 4
according to his wife, he does not smoke, drink, gamble and do women. He goes home to look after his kids after work.
the "vice" that she can think of was that at one time, he joins a cycling group that cycles all over Singapore over-night. After the cycling session, he goes home to sleep.
He helps out at the RC and so the Joo Chiat MP knows him. The Joo Chiat MP was going to visit him at the hospital, according to wife, I did not know if he actually visited. I assumed he did. Rather thoughtful of him, IMHO.
More info on his illness:
he started having headache on the 11th or 12th
He continued to go to work (business, husband and wife team, no employees)
During this period when he was suffering from headache, (he went to work but could not do much since he has the headache and was sleeping at the office most of the time) his wife carried the burden of running the business and worked until midnight almost everyday.
POINT TO NOTE: I think that it is better to find a wife who is there in times of "sickness" than a wife who looks like a super model and is only there in times of "health." Not that those who look like super model are only there in times of health. BTW the wife is not bad looking.
Last thursday, 23rd / 24th his wife went to bed after work at around mid-night and he showed her that his left arm had no feelings and reaction.
He held up his arm and let it drop to show his wife....

Now out of ICU and back to a normal ward... Doctor said it would take 3 to six months for the clot to clear, I guess he will be on drip during this period.
just to add...
there were some criticism directed at his wife for not visiting him more, even from the doctors because they wanted to pass her some message and information. Their policy is to not to pass to some other relative.
I told her that it is better that she makes sure that her business survives. In Singapore, no business is already bad enough without all the hospital bills...
People should be more understanding... -
Even though in Singapore you cannot afford to stop work and finds it difficult to stop work for a short time... even though in Singapore you fear going to see the doctor because of the high cost... it is alright to monitor the situation yourself for while, please do not take too long, like in this case.
The best is to seek medical opinion immediately if you feel uncomfortable... but in Singapore, that seems very hard to do for many if not most people because of the costs and work pressures... -
any possibility of SGforums doing something for him? like collect abit of money from one another and pass to him for his hospital bills.
