from my past experience, i lure my quail(abit off topic)
out by shaking her food in a container... she everytime get excited when she hear this and will come and find the food.
or any indicator?
when my quail hungry, she will chip loudly (until my neighbour can hear)and always hope that i will come and feed her.. then when i was about to give her food she kept quiet -

btw, hamsters are nocturnal..
stay up late, get a torchlight or a night light, and look for it at night.. try to lure it out with food.. or put a lot of food in the cage.. sometimes they go back to the cage..
do not clean the cage as it may go back because of the scent it left behind.. -
set some 'traps' by putting food into a small pail and prop a wooden plank on the side of the pail to create a slope into the pail. when the hamster smells the food and crawls up the slope into the pail, it cant get out of the pail and there you get, your hamster trapped in the pail.

try look at floor trap, i mean drain hole. Experienced 1 time, one died inside the floor trap, 1 was at the edge, trying to climb up from the edge. Look at washing machine drain hose...etc
Other than that, put some food around...good luck... -
close all doors in ur room at night (so as to section it up)
before that, place sunflower seeds in a spot in each of the sections in ur hse.
overnight, observe which section the sunflower seeds are eaten up oredi.
now that, you've determined which section it is frm. inspect closely on that section. all holes..
for hidden areas, you may place peanut butter on the openings to lure the hamster out.

once, my hamster disappeared... i only found it 4 days later.

my hamster disappear i will just leave it. don't need go find.. when its hungry i'll find it waiting by the cage for food obediently then i'll just catch it and put it back.. the only bad thing is it will do its business all over your house and you don't know where.. haha..

Lost my hamster once. Found him in my closet. On top of that, I found my tee with some holes as well

oh.. never ever put cloth, cotton or thread with your hamsters... they may eat the thing and choke to death

last time one of my baby hamster running away, i use the mother hamster to find it back.
