u want to challenge yet what u wrote are only your 'presumed' victory and what u tink u r right about? what about the technical aspects? i will tell u the technical aspects of what makes the duo or multicore more superior over the P4s.
the architecture, the type of newer transistors used and the design of the processor layout with newer power efficient instructions and technology allows that. of not why would anyone pay for the R&D works with the processors in the lab and research department?
it won't consume a significant lesser power u will ever notice trust me. well at least if u compare it to the prescott u will.
if u r really interested in computers go read up and use them. why quote the obvious and pat your own back tinkin u hav paid tribute to your interest and its all well worth it? to ppl who knows more about stuff in this area it givs them headaches -
Also its pointless to compare clock speed for the 2 makers,as the AMD and Pentium/Core 2 artichitecture is totally different.
I go for Intel,AMD not good.
I feel Pentium 4 is a stable chip,good for entry level computers,while Pentium D is replaced with Core 2 Duo,the chip that can handle many processes with ease. -

for mi i sit and wait. AMD's chips coming out in 2007 and vista's still not fully waxed.
all the hassle on multi-core is for the HD and 64-bit computing. only when these 2 are fully in swing then we will see how efficient the multi-cores are from the 2 processor giants and they core performances. its too early to tell now, too little charts and benchmarks to convince ppl.

toopid u tood common sense don't apply in the technical world of processors and u hav to know how they function and their basics in order to write some sense. video encoding to be more specific don't only depends on the processor it also depends on the pipelines. AMD speed indication is not clear, don't know what they mean by 3500+ or 2400+, Intel at least label clearer.
They offer a variety for users to choose. Not everyone needs a extremely powerful computer, right?
It doesn't matter if AMD speed indication is unclear, what matters is AMD runs faster than Intel. And it's not hotter than Intel. -
