  Hm. Planning to go to Johore with my friends during the holidays.
  But why everyone keep saying that it's very dangerous?
  Is it really THAT dangerous?

  these advices may help:
  
  don't wear thick gold necklace there
  
  never reveal your wallet (whether full of cash or not) in public
  
  keep your passports properly and safety
  
  try not to reveal the authentic singaporean language
  
  if anyone (looks suspicious) come and talk to u, refuse and ignore them
  
  are you all driving there? If not don't anyhow take those private car as alternative to real licensed taxi (it's better for you all to take real taxi or public bus)
  
  if you act like a local there, everything should be okay
  
  anyway I've been to Johor and the other parts of Malaysia many times, so far it's safe

  No la... Johor is safe... just don't running to those shady areas. All the major shopping malls, popular eating places are safe. Of course, the driving part must be careful cos you may not know the directions well and Malaysian drivers driving style a little more agressive.

  Nothing to worry about. Use some common sense, no flashy display of your wealth (or lack of it), don't walk in dark or lonely ally ways. Try to move in a group. Thats all.......
