  I've bought a pen recently for my friend and I want to engrave her name on it before giving it to her on her birthday.

  What if she prefers it without engraving? What if you engrave something she doesn't like? She'll still pretend:"oh that's so sweet of you!" But deep inside, "why this fcuker must engrave the fcuking pen, now I cannot fcuking give it away!!!"
