Acne problems!

I have got serious acne problems. After consulting the doctor, I was given some medicine and some cream to apply on. But after 3 weeks of taking of the medicine and applying the cream along with some hygiene practice, my acne problems still doesn't seemed to improve. Any reasons as to why?

Go back see the doc for review. Stronger dosage needed.

How bad is your acne? How old are you? It could be just a phase (hormonal change) that you are going through and would get better after you reach certain age.
I personally don't find the acne cream helps. The cream is usually very strong and tend to burn your skin.
If it really bothers you, perhaps it's worth going back to see your dermatologist (skin specialist) to ask for something else.
I mentioned in one of my earlier post that I used to have acne problems too and had tried trying cream and antibiotics but didn't work. So I went to see the skin specialist and was put on Roaccutane for 6 months and it has been good since.
Roaccutane is very effective in terms of acne problems but can be expensive and it has some bad side effects such as depression, affecting your liver function causing cholesterol fluctuation, dry skin/lips/nose bleed, get sunburnt easily (advisable not to expose yourself to the sun while taking the medication), cause damage to fetus (therefore if you are a female you have to make sure you are not pregnant and not going to fall pregnant). Even after you completed the course, you need to wait at least 6 months or so before you consider to start a family.
If you do decide to go on Roaccutane, make sure you do a liver function test (just a blood test) before starting taking it and every 6-8 weeks after started taking it. The specialist in Singapore may not get you to do it but make sure you insist on it as it is a very strong medication and can affect your liver.

i tink 1 box is ard 256. Depending on ur weight and height will result in the qty u must consume
I need 6 boxes
and it has been 2 yrs le i only into my 4th box
haha coz 1st is the financial issue, super ex lor, by rite 1 box is one mth, meaning 2 pills of 20Mg, i take like half a yr
2nd is the super duper cracking of lips... cannot tahan, even if put lipbalm, ur lips also beri pain, and its hard to eat anithing w/o food bits appearing on ur lips
den u also get a lot of broken skin on ur lips
if u wish to take either roacctuane or oratane, prepare like 1k 1st ba
+ liver test is nt cheap, abt 70 dollars each time, u need another 3 times
Last time i went to a renowed skin specialist, one box of roaccutane = 180, somemore 1 box oni 30 capsules, mine oratane one box is 60 capsules, both are 20mg

We need an Acne Forum.
Acne can be caused by several things lah. Not necessarily oral medication will help. Sometimes it's hormonal, sometimes it's your lifestyle, sometimes it's hygiene etc etc etc. -
Well umm, creams usually don't work if it's due to hormones.. if you're a 18+/girl and not against this method, certain prescript-only birth control pills can help regulate ur hormones and clear out your skin.. Like Diane 35-ED or Yasmin. Tried and tested by many women ^^

dun drink sweet drinks
eat more fruits and veges although u heard this many times, cos it works
dun eat heaty food
drink more plain water
must wash face everyday, but not wid mama lemon like me, use sth prefebly good -

Are you on antibiotics? by right skin specialist will see your condition and determine what's best for you. normally they will start with antibiotics first... if no improvement then will start to give you strong medication. 3 weeks is not say long if you are on antibiotics but if you are on roaccutane/isotretinoin etc.. 3 weeks is good enough to see some results. Would suggest you to request for stronger medication(for private: it's usually roaccutane, for nsc: it's isotretinoin) if there is really no improvement. The price for isotretinoin is cheaper after subsidisation if you go to NSC through polyclinic referral.
Also check that the cream you are given is suitable for you. If it's too oily etc, then i would suggest you to use other cream. Or you can try using clearasil pimple vanishing cream(blue white tube one) to keep your face dry and get rid of acne after few days(it works). Just apply like twice a day. Don't use clearasil acne cream(long blue tube one) because it's a bit oily. The older version of their acne cream is better.. don't know why they change now.
Anyway, if the cream is not suitable for you.. it will usually gives a irritating/a bit pain feel.
Besides, you need to have enough sleep and drink a lotsa water. Always try to keep your face clean. -
chocolate a bit heaty... there may not be direct link but sometimes it may affect a little. no harm trying to avoid. just like when you have too many chocolate.. maybe you will get sore throat or something...Originally posted by alexkusu:There is no link between chocolates and acne -

How about acne only in between the eyebrows?
Super irritating.
Red patches in btwn the eyebrows all the time.....
Keep washing twice a day with facial foam, and 3 other times with just water....
Nothing works.
