beggar scams

I was at taipei when i saw this poor beggar who lost his hand and was hitting his head against the ground many times.It must have been very painful i thought.
I felt the urge to give him some money but the shock left me repulsed.
I bought a oversized taiwanese chicken steak and sat by the fence to munch my food. After observing a while, i realised he was a fake. His head was moving up and down rapidily and it appears to be touching the ground when its not. At best
its touching gently on the ground.
He did attract a great deal of sympathy and many passerbys did donate to him. As the donation piled up, he kept the money leaving only 1 coin and repeated this cycle a few times. Maybe his loss of hand might be fake as well as it could be some fake comestic plaster. -

speaking of beggers, the tunnel after u walk out from jb checkpoint after woodlands checkpoint sometimes got beggers one. once, i saw this disabled begger-boy crawled up and down the stairs besides the escalator looking very pitiful. looking very ke lian. -
move ur food round and roud in front of him, then give him, then say good doggie
maybe u can sit beside him and so the same thing

kidnapped kids frm msia, send to thai, chop limbs off and bash their heads in so they will have brain damage.
Happened to my mom's frend. Kid got kidnapped when going to toilet at an amusement park. For years, they cant find till one day they went thailand and saw this crippled beggar kid on the street. Have identical birthmarks, characteristics, etc to their son. Parents tried calling the son's name but he dosent recognise or unable to respond due to brain damage. -

lol i dont think anyone with a normal mind would bang their head on the ground repeatedly bah.. i dont think thats a scam for faking that action
but that soab go and take the money and leave 1 coin. thats one basket.

from what you said, i would infer that this begger kept the money away to prevent others fr taking them away from him . if he is really handicapped, he will be badly disadvantaged right.. and if pple seize his donations away, he wld be quite defenceless. -
to view things objectively, there is nothing wrrong with knocking the head softly on the ground. neither is there anything wrong with keeping the money you ahve earned. You were probrably in a bad mood or a narrowmineed mood at that time...Still the begger might have been a true or fake. Dont jump to comclusions.Originally posted by kilua:

haiz...even if the guy is a fake..i will still donate some money bah...so what if this beggar is a "fake" beggar? at least to my own consience, i know that i am helping some other people...i might not be that rich...but at least i know i can still afford to give some money to the poor people...
when i was in Bangkok last yr, i saw many young children begging...i guess the best way to help them is to buy food for them bah..
i even saw one lady br****feeding her young baby on the street.haiz...

but anyway he quite pityful.me and my gf did donate anyway.tinking of the scene,my heart still go to him..... -

As for bankok beggers, it is better not to cos once you donate, the rest beggers will come follow you and expect donations...... -

Its because you havent seen it. Its quite shocking to see someone knocking one head against the floor only to realise he is only "shaking his head quickly". I am against his marketing tatics of "hurting" oneself to elicit sympathy.
i also didnt say keeping his earned money is bad, but i wanted to highlight his is actually very smart. He left 1 coin in the cup everytime he keeps the money. This show he has business sense as people would not donate to a cup that is full.
The reason i said he was fake because he gave me the first impression that he was really knocking against the floor. No one would know he is not knocking unless you stare and observe him from the sides.
