  When I include a person's name as a referee, should I inform them?

  Of course, this is manner. Usually people inculde about 3 people name. Inculde the name and contact infor of that person.

  you mean your referees are just names and contacts on your resume ? ...
  
  if you did not even inform them ... what if they don't like you, and bad mouth you when potential employers call them up how ? ..

  I don't inform either, coz I know the other end doesn't do their part either. Unless its civil sector.

  yes.some places do check and if ur referee goes "huh?"...it doesnt look well on U...

  You don't be surprised, MINDEF requires your references' IC number as well.
