  before organised religions there was tribal values.. people who followed the ways of their ancestors. long long time ago, the arabs didn't put importance in religion, they also have "culture", they had poets, songs, wine and hot babes. juz dat it got overtaken by islam and introduced another set of moral and their "culture" evolved.

  I'm not sure about that... but it is true that in the past... Churches and temple often had the greatest art pieces, build to the grandest and the trend of modern architecture in their days. For example the Dome shape architecture... Churches is the first to do it in the world. Now rather... capitalism leads the building architecture.. Arts and pop culture are often the result of capitalism too...

  culture is culture, take parties for example, hundred years ago ppl celebrated in groups, now, they still do that. there is dance, there is wine, and probably some sex going behind. thats life. when there is people, or life, there is culture.
  
  capitalist culture is also culture, there are many examples that are purely secular.
