More than a year, after the National Kidney Foundation scandal rocked the charity sector, SingaporeÂ’s largest charity has proved that its on the mend.
In its progress report for this year, NKF reported a net surplus as of September 2006 was $13.8 million.
The charity said its patients will pay less for dialysis treatments.
This is due to a cut in dialysis cost from $150 to $140 per session.
=> How much was the dialysis across the causeway? RM40?
So, more than three quarters of dialysis patients will pay about 12 per cent less in the dialysis co-payment scheme.
NKF has also seen more patients after it opened a new Dialysis Centre in Woodlands. As of this month, NKF has 2,139 patients, up from 1,937 patients for the same period last year.
It plans to open up two more dialysis centres in Ang Mo Kio and Hougang next year
A total of S$4.2 million was saved after manpower costs were cut by half.
=> In other words, the reserve is still growing at an astounding rate!
The number of lifedrops donors is steady at around 200,000. Before the NKF saga, the number of lifedrop donors was around 260,000.
