how save are the hums (cockles) in Singapore?

I just ate A LOT at East Coast Park just a few hours ago..
they were very delicious but I want to know the ill-effects and aftereffects of eating too much.

I remember not too long ago I went to this food centre at redhill and ate satay beehoon which came with quite abit of hum. Big, juicy, looks clean, tasted good also. After that evening, for a week or so, my stomach didn't seem to have any mood to eat as normal.

I really dunno but they shouldn't be eaten on a daily or weekly basis. Best is to take it once a mth or even longer. Make sure your digestive systems can get accustomed to fighting whatever bacteria or chemicals in there.
I oso remember one time when eating hum with my family... the shells were shut tight, then I forced it open... It bled and died... I imagined a similar scenario... Its like you see a pretty girl's mouth close tight, then you open the mouth wide with your bare hands and rip the jaws apart...
