How they know the nut comes from that particular SQ flight? Unless of course the plane drop its nut(pun intended) while landing or taking off.Originally posted by alwaysdisturbed:thought there was an SQ flight which plane got a nut dropped onto somebody house?
skarli the same plane.
For an aircraft, every single piece part from a plane is painstakingly marked and recorded. That nut in question was not some M3 X 5 you can pick up at your neighbourhood hardware store. And yes, they did trace it back to an SQ flight which was taking off as reported quite awhile back. Luckily it wasn't something critical.Originally posted by tankee1981:How they know the nut comes from that particular SQ flight? i think i saw that too.Originally posted by ditzy:You thank me, I thank the discovery channel.I watched this documentary about a plane crash where they partially attributed the cause to it being an engineer used a different although workable part for a the plane's maintainence, and didn't register the change into the log book. The part in questioned turned out to be screws, no bigger than your hand.

Yeah yeah yeah that was it!!!! The windscreen came off halfway in flight, and the plane landed with half the pilot out the window. Miraculously he survived the ordeal to fly again. I don't think its wise to name the airline in question right?Originally posted by alwaysdisturbed:i think i saw that too.
something about the windscreen is it?
Why not? It takes one hell of a steady and cool pilot to land a jumbo jet filled with screaming passengers with his partner halfway out of the windscreen! Give that man a Tiger!Originally posted by ditzy:Yeah yeah yeah that was it!!!! The windscreen came off halfway in flight, and the plane landed with half the pilot out the window. that certainly isnt the SQ star alliance 744 bird, thats the tropical scheme on one of 2 744s painted and this one, papa kilo, is the one that went down in taipei. the remaining one had the scheme removed after her sistership crashed.Originally posted by kenn3th:![]()
didn expect SIA to be like that
it's a
"9V-SPP the Singapore Airlines Star Alliance 747-412"
The reason they grounded the plane is purely for safety reasons and technical glitches like this common in every airlines and every plane.Originally posted by fymk:SQ 228 flight for today has been grounded in Melbourne due to a technical problem. If any of you are waiting for relatives - 9 am tomorrow is the next flight for the grounded passengers in Melbourne.
Was there to see a friend off on a qantas flight. So if any of you are waiting for relatives , just some early info for you.
Wah ...SIA now ......ai yo
To be clear, I am not picking on SIA. I am an SIA patron. The nut bolt on a sydney house does not inspire confidence in any way. And SIA ranking dropped to 7th in the world in 2006. That's a big ai yo. What the heck happened to the Singaporean airline which made every Singaporean beam with joy when mentioned?Originally posted by Gazelle:The reason they grounded the plane is purely for safety reasons and technical glitches like this common in every airlines and every plane.
As a SIA passenger, SIA will be transfer you to a 5 star hotel to stay there for a night and all meals will be provided.
There is no need to "aiyo" just because it is Singapore airline.
Sadly, when you reach the top, the only direction you can go is down.Originally posted by fymk:To be clear, I am not picking on SIA. I am an SIA patron.
