  .. with same surname should not be a problem as long as the couple is not closely related by blood.. to add on to xiang yun n chen zhicai.. chen liping n chen taiming are also a couple sharing same surname.. especially surname like chen is very common so it is not surprising that people of the same surname get married..
  
  .. in ancient egypt, the prince got to marry his sister to become the pharoah.. which as a result causec a lot of genetic problem in their offsprings.. that was really incest n inbreeding.. but then the purpose for their practice is to keep the royal genes in the family.. guess the Egyptians already know something about genes before Darwin..

  Not first cousins (your parents' siblings' children). They're too closely related.
  
  As for second cousins (your parents' cousins' children), I'm not too sure whether they sufficiently distantly related to prevent inbreeding.

  As long as you are not related to each other you still can marry with the same surname.
  
  In ancient times because people of the same surname are closely related to one another that's why same surname marriage is not good but as time goes, people with the same surname does not mean that they blood are linked so as long as there is no blood relations between the couple it is completely OK.

  but seriously lah, i don't understand : it seems that in the US and the west, marrying your cousin is a pretty acceptable and common affair. i always hear teens over there falling in love with their cousins and whatever, but isn't it disgusting? it's really a milder form of incest to me, and yet, i think even in SG, got people do that. it's more or less as sick, or sicker than, sexual child abuse.
