oh ya.
my friends who went for the donation told me that they have to press the pump themselves for the blood or what to pump out.
Issit true? -
they give you a little stress ball, you sort of press it to encourage blood flow..
some like me don't really need it... -

except for that painkiller jab which isn't painful at all, more like an insect bite, there is no pain...
the painkiller does its work very well..
mostly, the fear is psychological

during my army days. there was a blood donation at my camp medical centre. my encik says all must go and will be awarded 1 day off for all those donated. i was rejected cos the nurse says those mirror illness like flu and cough ae not allowed to donate.
my friend was so scared that no blood came out. in the end, he was forced to stop after hardly filling up half the packet.

Do you need to prepare before blood donation?
No special preparation is needed before blood donation.
However it would be advisable to take note of the following:
* Drink lots of fluids the day before donation and also in the 24-hour period after donating blood.
* Have adequate rest the night before donation and on blood donation day itself.
* Please take your meals regularly on the day of donation. There is no need to abstain from food or fast prior to blood donation. In fact you should take a light meal in the preceding 2-3 hours before -

Type O dun need donate meh?
I thought O is the universal donor, while AB is the universal receiver? If that's not the case, then my two years of Bio in Secondary school and the Bio textbook is very wrong liao lor.

Most of these storage of blood are charged into the Patients Expenses . With your GST .
And they call this donation? I don't see any lowering in cost for consultancy. Since when people get benefits for what they contribute in Singapore?
