Which area do you stay in? If I happen to know about a donation drive around your area, I'll PM you.Originally posted by Gordonator:i always wanted to donate blood since i'm type O but never had the chance.
i will greatly do so if they come to my area.
It's ILLEGAL !Originally posted by dragg:pay more money and a lot of people will sell.
Don't worry, it's isn't painful. Just a slight prick feel only despite the needle looking fearsome.Originally posted by Eternal-fire:My poly always have blood donation drive, I always wanted to donate but scared it's pain......
But do you know that the donated blood need to be tested, stored and filtered before it's being used for transfusion? All these are cost which is needed to be considered.Originally posted by Nessie:Donors donate blood free of charge. But when patients need blood, they sell them.
Is that fair to the patients?!
The stress ball is just to encourage blood flow for some donor as not all donor's blood flow is smooth. Having irregular output into the bag will cause more cloggings.Originally posted by the Bear:they give you a little stress ball, you sort of press it to encourage blood flow..
some like me don't really need it...

No special preparation is needed before blood donation.
However it would be advisable to take note of the following:
* Drink lots of fluids the day before donation and also in the 24-hour period after donating blood.
* Have adequate rest the night before donation and on blood donation day itself.
* Please take your meals regularly on the day of donation. There is no need to abstain from food or fast prior to blood donation. In fact you should take a light meal in the preceding 2-3 hours before
