Dining Etiquette and Handphones

  Is it just me? This is be it a date or just a meal, and this is in a restaurant situation where you pay good money for good money, food, ambience and conversation.
  
  I would reply an sms or two but not sms-chat throughout the whole meal. I would pick up a call but I would say I'll call back later or make it as short as possible.
  
  Isn't it rude to walk out of a meal to talk for 5-10 mins on the phone, and to keep playing with the phone sms like you are at home msn-ing? FYI, phonecall is not for urgent matters.

  Hmmm... I've been dining out with a girl a lot... not quite as a date la. But I do feel that it is a bit on the rude side.
  
  I told her about it and she got all angry saying she don't believe that she needs to be pretentious and this is not a date and if I'm not happy with it, it's my problem.
  
  Of course, I thought that the comment was disrespectful to me la. Still have to LL swallow it down, cos I don't like to lose my cool with girls.

  Yeah! it sure is for everybody. Sometimes when i sms half way i do feel the " it is a bit rude to do this " kind of thing whenever eating or chatting.

  I'm weird maybe... but I do believe that being respectful to another is very important in a person. I tell her that just because if others don't care it's ok... but if she respect me as a friend, she should stop doing that.
  
  In fact, for some reason, she really did stop doing that the last day of our trip. Which partly explains why I end up happy with the trip if you've read my other thread.

  Very rude if your friend/friends start to have an sms chat/or talk on the phone for long time with others if they meet you. Show you no respect, so next time just blacklist them & dont meet them.
