My name is spelt wrongly on cheque

  I've got a silly question to ask.
  
  My employer gave me a cheque (it was not crossed). Only problem is, she spelt my name wrongly- the 'u' becomes an 'o'.
  
  Does it matter? Can I just cross it, put my details and dump it in the deposit box?

  cannot get your pay then hosey lo... go ask for another one from your boss... then try to cash BOTH cheques

  how could someone's name be spelt as 'tei li'?
  
  but i still got the money la.
  
  check it out with ur bank first lor.

  Ask for another cheque.
  
  As for the old cheque, just use some chemicals to 'lift' the name and write another name.
  
  Then cash it in

  change the cheque.
  the bank will not accept it if the staff is strict

  It's advisable to change the cheque as it won't match with your name in the bank records and hence the cheque will be rejected.

  if cannot, just ask the person to cancel and rewrite with a signature...

  but if possible, TS shld ask for a new cheque and surrender old cheque. if not, can always try cashing it in anyway.
