is it normal for male coworkers to be calling babe to female coworkers. Is this normal between friends, close coworkers, long time coworkers ?
does it give the wrong impression if a girl accepts that type of treatment from a male coworkers, or in the other hand does it give the wrong impression if the girl makes a fuss about it.
how do you handle that,
is it ok,
not something to do in the work place,
only bf/gf generally can call you
is not big deal, just people being friendly? -

Don't have to make a fuss over it, just casually ask him not to call you that. "Don't call me that leh, very pai sey leh."
or
"Call me by my name, I like hearing my own name better."
Thing is, don't think too much into it. It's nothing. -
i have heard and experienced, esp in restaurants, american / italian managers very oftenly call the cute sg waitresses babe and sweetie, while talking will put a hand on their shoulder, even sms them i miss you thinking of you you sweet sg girl etc.

Everytime my european friend talks to a woman or wad, he will use the term "my love".
Example, "my love, how much is the t shirt" or "thank you my love"....

Its pretty common actually.. kinda depends your openess.. most of my male colleagues address me and my peeps that way.. no harm done and they have no intentions either basically just another way of addressing.. No its not normal in singapore where being conservative rules. Its sending the wrong signal, more on the side of unprofessional.

Sexual Harassement!
It all depends on who these people are. Some colleagues are quite close, platonically, so no issue. I do that all the time.
But I'd be careful to new colleagues and look out for the sensitive ones. Can be a potentially career killing problem that the guy doesn't need.
