even if the world is one nation, war can still happen. Riots, disagreements, etc etc. each of us have our own opinions. and there will always be someone who will disagree with us. World as one nation does not mean world with no war, aka peaceful world. Unless someone found a way to brain-wash everyone to think the same.Originally posted by Scuby:how great will be that? one natio with same law, same currency, same gdp, same langauge and same vision. If world nation is run such a way that everyone is treated same way under civil rule, it is not impossible to get rid of riots and communal violance. USA. a big country with many migrants and with many etnicities can stay as super power while Indonesia with common religion and common culture is still not a developed country and is with many internal social issuesOriginally posted by wh|te_@ng3|:even if the world is one nation, war can still happen. You are right, it won't work.Originally posted by the Bear:i wonder why people think this is a good way to move forward...
it steps on a few rights of people who want to believe that there is a higher power.. in that, there will be seeds of unrest...
then, people seem to conveniently forget that in a few countries that have tried to abolish religion (see the communists) and subsequently had to open up their countries again, there was a lack of morality, a sense of right and wrong, in their people.. PRC is a good example.. after years of official rejection of religion, even to the state of rejecting their cultural teaching by confucious, you see now a people driven to "success" and material gain at all costs and by any means...
things are not as simple as "abolish religion"
the backlash may be worse than you think..
Abolishment of religion is not inconsistent with a world government concept, as long as the government is run under a federation/ commonwealth concept rather than under a totalitarian rule.Originally posted by Cystaire:You are right, it won't work.
The leaders will use the opportunity to make themselves Gods. Like Stalin for example.
Religions cannot be forcibly abolished... the process is as painful and pointless as forcibly unifying the world as one State.
Everyone should be free to choose their religion as they like, but religious groups should not be in a position of governmental or military power.

Hard to imagine a world government as a unitary political entity that is not totalitarian.Originally posted by Beyond Religion:Abolishment of religion is not inconsistent with a world government concept, as long as the government is run under a federation/ commonwealth concept rather than under a totalitarian rule.
