10 fired after Nintendo Wii death
Show canned after water drinking competition
By INQUIRER staff: Wednesday 17 January 2007, 15:40
TEN PEOPLE at a radio station were fired after hosting a competition for a Nintendo Wii which ended in a woman dying. The End (KDND, 107.9FM) held a water drinking competition and were apparently aware of the dangers of water intoxication, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The Bee said that apart from the 10 being fired, the Morning Rave show has been canned.
The same newspaper said today that the radio hosts knew of the dangers of drinking too much water.
Some updates.

reading this post brings me to another thought. how about those "Win-subaru" competition, shld it be banned? I mean, what if someone dies from standing there ? How like that?

The problem was, the contest didnt had any safeguards. They shld have medics on standby just like the "win a subaru" contest. The organisers should have developed a comprehensive standard procedure to identify which contestants are likely to be at high risk of injuries.
The contest shldnt be scrapped or discontinued, rather, its shld be continued with more safeguards in place.

They had better give the Wii to the kids and compensation

I thought the Subaru contestants would have signed indemnity(sp?) forms or something? Since we have a reputation for being "kia-see".
