It was a cloudy evening as singaporeans and indonesians alike, stroll into the kallang national stadium to withness the do or die battle between Singapore and Indonesia.
The players were warming up on the pitch admist the stormy cloud filled skies which treatened to unleash its mercy in a moment.
Without fail, the corwd 13,000 strong took their seats while the skies opened up. Old or young, regardless of race.. singaporeans shared temporary shelter under their umbrellas with neighbours whom they don't even know.
A few, ponchos were passed to us from the friendly guys whom we offerd to by from. " $2? take it la! free! Pass it to the children who need it first."
Now with all their rain gear ready, a sudden applause was here, not because the players were exiting the tunnel.. But because there was a group of 6 to 8 "ang mos" wearing red t shirts with singapore written on their back. They soaked in the limelight by waving back to the massive crowd who gathered at the east wing.
Soon the matched started and unwillingly, a penalty was given to the lions. The crowd cheer amongst the heavy rain, to see my fellow gabrielite, score the 1st goal of the match.
"Indonesia! Indonesia!" The rival groups were cheering their team on, but for the first time in my life, i felt pride in my fellow countrymen... as our shouts of cheers engulfed the indonesian supporters. The heavens let up as though it felt for us, when the crowd went silent during the indonesian equaliser.
We would go on to end the night 2 aside. Admist the cheers of "refree Kayu! butok! singapore singapore! Goal!" and many other more which would require a total cleansing of my keyboard if i typed them all out.

In the last few mintues of added time, the stadium filled with voices of the song, which went "na na.. na na na na.. hey hey~ GOOD BYE!

Thank you for taking the time to read.
