go Uni after poly, how they choose who can go Uni?

Firstly, nowadays NO SUCH THING AS TOP 5%, ONLY GOT TOP 10%... unless ur poly different lah...
Secondly, THEY DUN COUNT CCA ANYMORE since the later part of last year.
THIRDLY, scare wat sia? My cher also say le, got 5 Universities in Singapore soon, scare wat? -

The entry into uni depends on results, u need to get As, Bs, Cs.
I know of people with C,D,E grades who can't get in.
CCA don't count unless u are applying for scholarship.
Compared with someone who has same average grades, then CCA may help. -

last time in poly got those people join uniformed groups like NPCC...they go back to their secondary sch for the CCA and claim their points in poly with letters from the secondary sch. -

pls keep in mind there is NO 100% u can get a place in Uni, esp there are alot of FTs enrolling in poly. even though the intake for poly into uni are increasing (i saw case even B graders can get in), do not pin too much hope or think it is end of route when u enrol. also keep in mind that you are fighting a place wif 5 polys, not forgetting JC students as well.
to play safe, choose a pure engineering course or business course in poly which are relevant to uni courses. if u choose those new courses (those rojak course like management cum engineering, life science) in poly which uni do not have, the chance is obviously low.
take example if u are going to electrical engineering in uni, ur chance (if u r taking electrical engineering) is higher than students who took mechantonic (consists of M&E), electrical and communication, ECE. some say students from SP studying EE get higher chance because their course modules are very related to what uni requirement. -

den my cca record is quite ok.
olevel isnt wonderful, L1R5 is 22 R4 is 17
now in engineering but actually considering a switch to acc or buisness. would take engineering if theres no choice. losing interest in engineering la..
so should i stick to engineering? -

50-60% is more believable.
And its the truth..my class was among the top in my average JC..but only ard 70% of us made it to local universities. -

So if my first sem GPA was 2.0, and the rest of the course is around 3.0, can i get into U?

I ask you guys, if my current GPA is like 2.89 and I'm in Mechanical Engg. Wad's the chance of going into local U and studying Mechanical Engg? I also heard that if NS go OCS, then CCA is full 5%, then if go SISPEC, CCA is 2.5%.

Poly grad you can try your luck to switch... but it's quite hard, not many are successful in getting the choice they want, have to stick with something they did in poly. -

diploma is by gpa meh
all i noe is, u got like 6 modules each semester
and u need to pass all of them to proceed nxt sem
and it is no easy feat to get A n B lo for many subjects
and there is no such thing as lousy poly -

It really depend on grades but also LUCK
If your choice of course,alot of JC students chose,then good luck.
If u chose a course that not so popular,chances are higher.
ANyway the JC students alway get a better chance so LL loh. -

D is conditional pass.
