One of my professors did a study on the feasibility of fitting solar panels on the train's exterior to power the air conditioning. To achieve the bare minimum, they would need a sunny day and a train 1km long.Originally posted by Parka:

Science 101- you can't create energy from nothing- the power generated from this "idea" (assuming can even be made to begin with) comes form the trains- with are in turn powered by other means that we have to generate.
In short this system will never generate more power then that was put into it, hence it isn't really a useful means of power generation, but rather a system to reduce the net loss of energy... kinda like regenerative braking. But I suspect regenerative breaking is far more efficent.
Also the train does not create an airtight seal in the tunnel, hence it does not compress the air in the tunnel in front of it at all. Even if the tunnel was entirely airtight, it won't compress air any more then an smarties candy sealed in a the smarties tube will compress air by shaking it back and forth. The primary effect of air in our MRT tunnels is drag, not his "forceful compression".
Not to mention, even if we did somehow rig the system to compress air... the energy required to do so will always be returned less... not to mention it slows the train down for no good reason to recycle energy for what? The only justifiable use I can see for his technology is to use the compressive method to brake and stop trains, and the energy generate recycled to run other systems so it is not wasted... but as people noted there are easier and more efficent systems for recycling energy.

Aerodynamics of compressed fluid doesn't work that way... Moreover the so-called flap-doors will be a safety issue for the trains as our current tunnels don't permit additional load bearing...
That might be enough to power your house.
