do acturial science. by the final year of your course, you will be employed, have a good allowance, and your degree would have been fully paid for. most of the acturial scientist also go on to make their first million before the age of 30.
the catch? you have to be fantastic at math, because you can be average for everything else but u must have the top scores for math, prefably perfect scores. there is also the 70% (on average) drop out rate to consider.
else, you can still go get a law degree, become a mass tort lawyer in USA, sue like made for a few years, take the money and run. and that would be in the region of a few hundred million USD, just dun get caught.

then u go for the Duke University Graduate School of Medicine
which is going 2 open at SGH
but then competition will be stiff.. only 50 places
psychology n psychiatry is diff lah
psychology deal wif normal ppl
psychiatry deal wif people wif mental illness
psychology NUS got degree
while psychiatry is a specialty under medicine
u haf 2 be a doc 1st, then can study psychiatry
which then allows to prescribe medicine lah
dentistry not bad lah
moneywise is very gd

the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist is that one has a medical degree as a platform.
a psychiatrist is qualified to prescribe drugs, hence is a trained doctor from the start. that means 5 yrs med sch, 1 yr housemanship, 5-7 yrs M.Med in psychiatry provided u r allowed to do that during residency.
psychologist, u will of course need a bachelor of psychology. but, you must hv a minimum of Masters of psychology if u wanna b a practising clinical psychologist in sg. else, u can use ur bachelor in other ways. go figure.
since this is abt money, starting pays on avg abt 4k for doctors, 3.6k for psychologist.
and no, i'm not in med sch or a doc. i wanted to be one. now in law school, heard they pay better too. -

poly to med sch in sg is rare, but not impossible. or so i heard. my friend's pal's sister's classmate made it in. her med school classmate that is. from poly. only one in the entire intake. had perfect scores all the way thru the 3 yrs. better way is to just go overseas if ur that desperate. or do post-grad. -

And as for snop_coolz - you want to be a doctor for money or for passion in medicine? Money wise - your indemnity insurance will be sky high if you choose to practise in USA or Australia where the money is good which negates the high earning part. After a while , you will find that rostering shifts kill relationships and passion will be the only thing you can depend on to actually find meaning in life.
I went for the interviews and I choose the part of medicine which was not profitable compared to GPs, Medical/Surgical Specialities - I wanted to be a forensic pathologist or an infectious disease public health officer. Both at most gets you 100k max per month after several years of working in the system. Plastic surgery, general surgeons can earn up to millions per year in private practice but their insurance kills. That is why they retire once they make the money and go teach in hospitals. So think carefully.
Yes, I got the offer for a place twice and rejected them because of financial constraints aka survival fees . Therefore I did not graduate from it but I could get a place in med school if I want to study and retake the graduate medical school test ( as well as hope to score at least 70th percentile again) , and do the old song and dance about forensic pathology again for the interviews. No point being a starving scholar - it affects study. -

If you go by the poly route, you definately need to struggle( considering ur pts15 izzt?) coz only the very very best go to uni.
And competition is tough in Uni, my fren is a Med student and from wad i heard, the people there are not only hardworking, THEY ARE SMART.
Yea, like wad other's said, other den dentist, doc and law which can make good money, do actural science.
But the bottom line of it all, you gotta be hardworking.
A cert/dip is just a stepping stone, not a pre-requsite to big bucks and fortune. -

Given ur L1R5, it's best to go Poly, at least you get to choose wad u're passionate in. But, if you reali want to study medicine, make sure u put ur mind and soul into ur Dip and be the top few %, if not, u'll just come out to the working world wif a Dip, lest you further ur studies overseas.
Otherwise, go JC ( JJ, PJ, MI 16 pts arnd there) and make sure u opt for S papers, get 4As and S paper to up ur chance of getting into Med sch.
So yea, end of it all, it's still hardwork, no short cuts. -

it does give you a stable job but i heard if this is ur only degree, go for accountancy and become an accountant or auditor, more stable, but not neccesarrily higher pay. -
My cher is work in corprate finance before becoming a cher. She say everyday go see client eat shark fin, and those rich ppl food. She say she everyday eat till sian liao so come teaching.
