Huawei Selected as 3G Strategic Partner by Singapore

Singapore – 10 February 2007] Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that StarHub Ltd, Singapore's leading info-communication company, has selected Huawei to provide Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS)/High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) solutions as well as support the future upgrades of its 3G mobile network in Singapore.
Under the agreement, Huawei will provide its innovative distributed Node Bs to help StarHub deliver the full capabilities of HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) across the island this year.

We are confident that Huawei's solutions will help us deliver an enhanced 3G experience to our customers,'' said StarHub's Head of Network and Wholesale, Mr. David Storrie.
Huawei is a leading pioneer in the field of UMTS/HSPA solutions. It was the first to introduce the distributed Node B solution which allows fast network deployment at lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for its customers. It was the first to support full-performance HSPA with 14.4 Mbps HSDPA, and the first to roll out its 'Iub IP' transmission solution which has proven to save transmission operating expenses (OPEX) of up to 80 percent in the deployment of HSPA networks.
Huawei has established important partnerships with 31 of the world's TOP50 operators including Vodafone, Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom, France Telekom and China Mobile. To date, Huawei has won 47 UMTS/HSPA contracts worldwide.
