Assistance needed in finding a family member in S'pore

Hi, I am an ex Singaporean Citizen, currently living in England and have been for over 10 years, I intent not to return to Singapore as that would make me liable to be conscripted into the Singaporean Army for 2 years (so I have heard and read) it is a risk I am not willing to take.
It seems to me, Singaporean Citizenship is a liability and I am sure a lot of Singaporeans would agree with me.
Not being able to return to Singapore is a problem, as I would like to find my dad, I have not seen him for over 10 years and It has been one of my life's goal to get in contact with him.
Can any good-hearted Singaporean advice me on finding him?
Fortunately I have his NRIC number, full name, D.O.B.
I heard that it is possible to contact him through a police post in Singapore by providing a police officer my contact details which they will then contact him then give him my contact details.
If anyone can provide any reliable information on this particular topic I would be extremely grateful.

Aiyah... I dun think there is any way to find a family member here through the government... or so i think.
I mean...if its tat easy... why do we still see ppl posting on papers and advertisements looking for lost ppl....
Unless of cos... you know ur old residence.. then can trace... or start from sumwhere la...
but u cannot just give police other ppls ID and expect them to provide u with info. -

1) u will not be able to find yr relative.
2) go to jail when u step here

hire a Private Investigator to be ur rep here, they can check it out for u.

Got address easier to find. Even he had moved, some old neighbours might know his present address.
And also, I think if got NRIC no., the PI can check with SIR, or ICA. -

I doubt i have it though, however I have his old address. I have acquired his NRIC no. and the rest of his personal details off his Islamic membership card...he converted to Islam and was issued a membership card and mum kept it and recently gave it to me. -
I just tried the site you suggested, it's hopeful. I typed in my dad's full name and 6 potential candidates popped up, I'm going to buy a calling card and call those numbers today and get them to verify their NRIC NO. hopefully one will match that of my father's.Originally posted by zaxis:NRIC not enough

Do you mean on the 'doll'. If so, yes, most of them tend to claim monetary and housing benefits off the government. As Magaret Thatcher once said ' The fatherless lone parent families are married to the state...the state is a nanny state'. I quite agree with her, don't you?
But your description of a 'chavette' is pretty accurate however you have missed out 'foul-mouthed and promiscuous' as intrinsic attributes that are integral to classify them as part of the Chav Community. Oh! Accent as well, they tend to have thicker accents, with tendencies of changing simple words such as 'about' to 'aboot' and 'you' to 'ye'.
Unfortunately I live in the North East of England, I know a lot about a chavers...nearly turned into one myself haha
Though directing back to your suggestion, with UK's Human Rights and human trafficking laws it would be extremely hard to export one of them out of England. -
