I think its a test on whether your "friends" are true friends or not by sending them festive greetings and testing if they do reply.
If the receiver is too lazy to type a simple "thank you, have a happy CNY yourself", how can you rely on him or her in times of needs?
On to my test...
This CNY I personalised all the CNY greeting sms i sent out. I typed their names plus specific well-wishes or thanks that are suitable for my friends. I didn't use those canned chinese sms greetings at all.
The response rate is not bad, about 70% response and out of this 70%, about half, i.e. 35% responded with personalised replies.
These 35% I will remember as TRUE friends and I will die for them.
The 35% who replied to me using canned replies, I will treat them as hi-bye friends.
As for the 30% who did not reply, I will give them one more chance at the next holiday. If they still don't bother to reply, I will delete their names from my handphone.
All in all, i sent out about 50 sms. Took me at least 4 hours in total to think, type and send.
Anyone else tried sending personalised sms this CNY?[/u][/b]

Can send again at the next major festive season, which i think is the moon cake festival.Originally posted by Lorry`:will your next post (2nd post) be on the next cny ?
if they dont reply, forget it
(bo reply?! sua)
maybe i will not send the next time/any occasion.... but then im those who will forget everything the next day so.... yea.
Yes, its tedious if you do it all at one go. I typed the sms during my spare time, e.g. tv commercials or waiting for bus. Also, i didnt send out all at one go at 12 midnight. I sent out whenever i typed finish over these 2 days.Originally posted by _n00b_:yah...tried before...tedious task...typed out all and saved to drafts...when 12 o'clock comes...check all and mass send...more positive replies...but it takes up time...going through every single name and thinking of their individual traits etc...

i think canned replies means sending sms greetings that others wrote to u,Originally posted by NeverSayGoodBye:.....Btw what is canned chinese sms greeting or canned replies? can show exemple?
Sometime a person doesn't reply don't mean he/she is not a true friend. Some of them replied out of obligation or just returning a favour. Cannot judge a friend this way.
