I think you'll also find that "it's" comes with an aprostrophe in your context.Originally posted by scabstermooch:I think you'll find its spelt 'Pronunciation' without an 'o'.
This word reminds me of one joker in class. She used to pronounce "data" dah-tah, and the whole class would burst out laughing.Originally posted by the Bear:and another.. not sure how it is pronounced actually..
the word is Data
some say "day-ta"
some say "dah-tah"
i use the former as the word originates from the word Datum.. i don't hear anyone pronouncing it as "Dah-tum"
what do you guys think?
Sadly that ain't the case amongst the teachers here though sg's somewhat an "educational hub".. maybe teachers should be put through a strict oral test or somethin' before they're given the job...? They are afterall to educate the masses aren't they?Originally posted by dracky:I wonder why our schools don't teach English phonetics, like the way they teach hanyu pinyin for Chinese. That way, everyone can learn the standard pronunciation by checking the dictionary.
Maybe to you it isn't but will others really comprehend what you're trying to put across? Especially when u're in a foreign country?Originally posted by LinkageII:doesnt really matter.. as long as understand..
