this new Integrated Programmes, so its a either u die die must get thru to the As or u 'die'?
how do u know which school is the one for you?

You will never know for this one... some schools put the wordings so nice, attract students, in the end, they not happy... study until sian...
Not sure for through-train programmes... only know one thing, if you fail your A Levels, you have no O Levels cert to fall back on. Just PSLE cert. Can't go uni, can't go ITE, can't do this, can't do that. -

umm and the programmes are not exactly like the other sec school so the kids can go take their Os as private students?

With the exception of one school, who is doing IB. Which school is that I can't remember.
Not too sure if they can apply as private O Levels student, but they can try applying for poly. But they have to count on their luck to enter... or enter some unpopular courses like engineering, IT and nursing, whereby the results of students are real bad... -

but even if ur in one of those thru-train schools, they will monitor your grades.
you still have to have a certain grade before they will actually allow you to go to 'JC' without taking O levels
not sure about now, but a year ago, you had the option of opting out of the thru-train program
which means you can be in RGS, but you can still take O levels if u want -
poly is good if you already know what u want to be....i think...cos they are specialised.....

I chose the nearest secondary school from my hse. I think for sec there's nothing much except the reputation. So i think its up to the individual rather than the school.
And those direct take A level ones, i think they are offered in those very good schools, so i dont think they would even talk between pass or fail, i think its rather between As and Bs. -
maybe they will do badly and hae to fall back ont he psle certs
but then again, having 6 years to study for the A lvls compared to the 2 years of other pple and considering they are already one of the better ones.
i wonder how much more advantage does the government plan on giving the "elites" -

i was just told that the school will still put those whom they felt needed to take up O levels. -

Currently in trial at top schools for through-train programmes. If you are at a top school, and you get Fs, it's like freaking wrong. -
speaking from my personal experience, dont go to through train programme. they promise you alot of special lessons, new teaching methods and all, but in the end its the same as the norm lessons. plus they dont teach stuff that are tested in O levels, only those tested in A levels so you have no choice but to continue remaining in the programme. alot of my classmates zao to overseas or appeal very hard to get into other jcs. and i agree that its really risky. if i fail my As, i only have PSLE. i really dont recommend you going to through train programmes.

through train only for those with the self-discipline to make sure that you will not slack off and be complacent just cos there's no O levels and of course must have to academic calibre to survive the A levels.
Dont worry about flunking your A levels, if u're willing to learn and absorb what they teach, you can be rest assured that the preparation and exams skills picked up in such schools will be more than enough to prepare you for the A levels.Btw though there'll be much lesses tests and exams, there'll be lots of project work instead. -
