Jawi is how malays used to write before the english alphabet system was adopted in the 1900s. Spoken wise, it's basically about the same as Malay today. it's just a way of writing

Jawi and Jawa are two different things.
According to a close friend of mine (who is a malay), Jawa is a dialect of the Indonesian Language; totally different then the original malay language, both in the way its written and spoken.
Whereas Jawi is actually a form of writing which is a little similar to Arabic, but when it is spoken its actually spoken in normal Malay language.
Confusing?
Maybe a malay fella can explain better..
